The plot, measuring 2 rai and 36 wah (3,344 square metres), is situated about 120 metres from the beach road in the quaint fishing village of Thong Krut, in the southern part of Koh Samui. It has good access, good ground water and a nearby electrical supply. A quiet tropical beach is only a few minutes walk away.

The land is well suited to development in a variety of formats including four luxury houses, six smaller houses, a number of bungalows, a boutique resort or duplex apartments - or, indeed, any combination of these. The land is a blank canvas on which you can design your own dream development either on your own or in association with some like-minded friends.

The village of Thong Krut boasts a number of excellent restaurants ranging from French fine dining, through British pub style to local Thai food, all situated along the beach front and just a few minutes stroll from the land on offer. Because of their location you can be sure that the catch of the day is always fresh. In addition, there is a small supermarket and a few small shops to cater for immediate needs.

The area is rapidly becoming popular due to the tranquil pace of life to be found on this part of the island. It is still very rural and still quite 'Old Samui'. My wife and I have lived in the vicinity for several years and would not consider anywhere else on the island. The town of Lamai is less than 15 minutes away by car and boasts not only many restaurants and a vigorous night life but also a large Tesco supermarket, an excellent local fresh-produce market and many other shops.

As the world economy starts to pick up again and the political troubles in Thailand are being solved, the outlook for the future is looking particularly optimistic. Tourism figures are rebounding from the lows of the last couple of years and the land and housing markets are picking up, as shown by the large number of condominium sales in the larger cities and the new developments taking place on Koh Samui, Phuket and elsewhere.

Conrad Hotels and Resorts have now completed their luxury suites and are now being sold not far from the land offered above, part of a very large development, Banyan Tree, one of the most prestigious spa/resort companies in the world, have now opened their new development on nearby Lamai beach, and a number of other luxury spas and resorts are currently being constructed on the island. Seventeen luxury apartments are currently being built on the Thong Krut seafront with their own marina and Park Hyatt plan to build their new resort a short distance away consisting of 90 luxurious hotel villas and 24 villa residences, built on a 50 acre site. All of these will only serve to push land prices (and hence your investment) upwards as more and more people discover the tropical magic that is Koh Samui.

This plot of land represents a good opportunity to gain a foothold in this lovely area before prices start to escalate. It is priced at a very reasonable 10,000,000 Thai baht. For those people wanting a larger area, plots of land are available on either side for purchase from local vendors.
